First Brush of Spring Workshops

2011 First Brush of Spring New Harmony Workshops
Beginner to Advanced — Portable Easel Necessary

C.W. Mundy - Still Life Painting Workshop - April 11 - 15, 2011
Five day workshop -$750 for members and non-members

This five-day Still Life workshop begins with a lecture and slideshow on the science of painting, The Seven Foundational Truths. Also on the first day, students will observe a demonstration by Mundy. During the next 4 days, participants will paint Still Lifes daily, with individual critiques and instruction.

Bye Bitney - Figurative Workshop - April 11 - 14, 2011
Four day workshop -$400 for members, $450 for non-members

Over the four days of the workshop we will work on several key aspects of figure painting:  concept, composition, drawing, values, color and surface.  In addition to working from live models, we will also work from provided photos to better understand the advantages and limitations of that tool.  Each day will begin with a demonstration by Bye with the afternoons for students to paint.

Todd Williams - Plein Air Workshop - April 11 - 14, 2011
Four day workshop - $400 for members, $450 for non-members

*Oil or preferred medium *Beginner to advanced *Instructor demonstrations *Individual critiques
*Discussions and lots of individual attention
Through lecture, slide presentation and demonstrations, the “authorship of painting” will be explored in squinting, design, value control, color control, edges, paint manipulation, variety/unity. This workshop will be great for all levels. We will learn about training our eyes to see warm vs. cool color relationships and what I call VCM (value-color-mixture).

Plus will learn about the Spirit of Painting,  sharpening our skills of observation and editing, but at the same time learning that the final product should also speak of ourselves as artists as much as the subject itself
